Lee Wasdin. Lee was bigger than life in every aspect. When you met him, you never forgot him. He was huge – and intimidating. He touched everyone he came in contact with. He was a great leader and a great person.
Lee, known by many law officers in the Florida Panhandle, has passed; however, his legend will be with us for a long time.
So, picture this…
You are a law enforcement officer working in Escambia County. You are called to a situation where you definitely need another officer to show up who has your back. Then…Lee Wasdin shows up. What goes through your mind?
- “Oh, good! Lee will be quiet until I need him. Then he will help me.”
- “I’m glad he is here, but I’m going to be completing a Use of Force report, because – he’s going to start a fight! And, by the way, he WILL win.”
- “No! Lee is always afraid to confront people. I am going to have to do this by myself.”
- “Good. Soft-spoken Lee will use his verbal skills to de-escalate things and calm everyone down.”
