Book Michael for a Speaking Event

Michael Earl Simmons brings gripping, unforgettable Southern stories of crime, justice, and human nature to life for audiences at libraries, museums, historical societies, bookstores, and civic organizations.

A second-generation police officer, Mike has been “in the business” since April 1982. Mike is a retired Sergeant, former homicide detective, and currently serves as a law enforcement training center director. Michael draws from original archives, dusty case files, and his own decades of real-world experience.

He is available to speak in Pensacola, throughout the Gulf Coast, and across the South…and he will bring his unique Southern storytelling style with him. He will research murders, crimes, and historical cases in any location to deliver a program specifically tailored to the audience standing in front of him.

These are not the sensationalized “true crime” stories you often hear. Michael’s presentations go deeper and richer — blending the warmth and rhythm of traditional Southern storytelling with the hard-earned insight of a seasoned lawman. The result is insightful, exciting, and deeply human: stories that honor the victims, recognize the officers who pursued justice, and reveal powerful lessons about resilience, ethics, and the thin line between order and chaos.

Expect evenings filled with atmosphere, drama, and that unmistakable Southern flair — the kind that makes you lean in, sip your sweet tea a little slower, and truly feel the weight of history.

Whether in an intimate library setting or on a larger stage, Michael delivers presentations that are informative, moving, and thoroughly engaging.

Popular themes include:

– Forgotten crimes that shaped communities across the South

– The human drama behind historic investigations

– Timeless lessons from the past that still resonate today

Michael has spoken on subjects like links to the JFK assassination, the capture of Ted Bundy, the exploits of serial murderess Judy Buenoano, the capture of Texas gunslinger John Wesley Hardin, and more.

If you want a speaker who combines authenticity, depth, and the living spirit of Southern storytelling — and who will craft the perfect program for your audience and venue — Michael will make your event one your guests will talk about long afterward.
